Transportation
Once you have arrived on Mount Desert Island, there are a variety of ways to get around between the College of the Atlantic, Bar Harbor, and other areas of the island. (For information on how to get to the Downeast area from further afield, please see our Campus page.)
Information on taxi operators and car rentals from Hancock County Bar Harbor Airport can be found here.
The Island Explorer bus service provides free summer services between Bar Harbor Airport, Bar Harbor town and Acadia National Park.
Carpooling:
In the interests of the environment – and limited parking space at COA – we encourage you to ride share to campus. There is a carpool form for participants/concert attendees to connect for this purpose. (Note that this form is used at the discretion of participants, and AFTMD will not be involved in organising rides/connections.)
The Acadia Festival of Traditional Music & Dance is a project made possible by a grant from the Maine Traditional Music Association and supported by Fractured Atlas, a national 501(c)(3) non-profit devoted to empowering arts organizations. Website art by Anabelle Keimach and Annelise Papinsick.
